The Love Story of Salon 42
It all began...
In the decade of big hair bands and the fashionable style of "the grunge". As the Hubble Telescope floated into space and the World Wide Web began its forever changing mark on our culture, college student Cara walked into a local Long Beach, California salon looking for a haircut in 1993 only to leave with a crush on her "Bad Boy" Hairdresser. Three years later Cara and Jason had fallen in love and welcomed their first of two children into the world. By 1997, they were flying to Charlotte, North Carolina to make a home for their new family in a place that would deliver all their dreams. Jason worked as a Senior Stylist for an upscale salon and Cara furthered her career in business after having their second baby until the exciting year of 2008 when Salon 42 was born. Our first location was our retro boutique salon in Dilworth. In 2010 our quaint and posh Lake Norman location was born and in 2012 our gorgeous and sophisticated Southpark location joined our Salon 42 family.
Our salons are named for a well known book, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The book is about a man seeking the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything, in which he discovers the answer is the number 42. The number 42 also has historical and cultural symbolism throughout history. You can find many of these unique facts on much of our Salon literature. We invite you to look up the many interesting things about the number 42 so you will understand how we put our passion and love into naming our salons. Here at Salon 42, we strive to be your answer to Life, the Universe and Everything by providing you with a one of a kind experience that makes you feel special, unique and inspired.
